WCU Commits a Zillion Turnovers, Goudelock Sets Scoring Mark

Sorry for the delay on this game summary guys. There were some issues with the site that needed to be fixed before I could post. Here are some quick bullet points on Thursday's game. I'll keep it succinct so I can get to an App State preview this afternoon. 

• Prior to the game, Goudelock was showing flu like symptoms and registered a 102 degree fever. Cremins contemplated not playing him, but Drew insisted he would be fine. 
• There was some absolutely sloppy basketball to start the first half. Turnovers by both teams resulted in easy buckets. However, CofC was able to clean up their act after the first 5 or 10 minutes and play sound basketball.
• After reaching 16 points with plenty of time left in the first half, the crowd was itching for Goudelock to nail a shot and break the record. Every time he touched the ball, fans would lean forward waiting for him to shoot so they could cheer. He eventually got his points on a floater in the lane to push the score to 45-26. The crowd went wild. It was a really cool moment, the video can be seen here. Absolutely incredible accomplishment. 
• The second half was more of the same story. WCU continued to throw away passes and the Cougars continued to take advantage. Halfway through the period, Cremins began to put the subs in. Goudelock did not play the last 11 minutes. 
• Simmons and Andrew Lawrence both had big games. Simmons was dominant in the paint, posting a very quiet 20 points in the shadow of Goudelock's record setting performance. Lawrence, playing 26 minutes, shot 3-3 for 8 points and dished out 7 assists.
• Wiggins had a rough game. He was responsible for three turnovers in the first half and finished with 0 points on 0-5 shooting. 
• We got to see the most freshman playing time yet. Jordan Scott played a very efficient 10 minutes in which he went 3-3 for 8 points, including a very nice fast break dunk. James Carlton had some nice moves to the basket but couldn't capitalize. Nori continued to be unselfish but was active on the boards (3 rebounds in 5 minutes).
• Goudelock's parents surprised him by driving six hours from Atlanta to see him break Ken's record, and then driving back immediately after the game. This picture summarizes Drew's excitement.
• Congratulations again to Drew Goudelock. It's pretty cool seeing the guy who came to this college the same year as me reach the all-time scoring mark in our senior year.
